This hand thrown beer/cider glass fits a glass of beer or cider perfectly. The density of the local earthenware clay keeps your favourite beverage colder longer. The turquoise glaze over the sponged blue decoration, feels nice to the hand and is easy on the eyes.
We are fortunate to have such a great clay that is a dream to work with on the wheel. The bonus is that it is native to Nova Scotia. The brown earthenware glass is hand thrown, covered with a liquid white clay (called a slip), then sponged with a dark blue clay slip. After it has been fired once, the glass is glazed with a transparent turquoise glaze and fired a second time. Layering a transparent glaze over the blue sponging adds an interesting depth to the surface, one that you don’t tire of looking at.
