The jar was thrown in our Mahone Bay studio with a Nova Scotian earthenware clay. Using a piece of sea sponge, black, white and yellow clay was daubed over the brown clay the jar is made from. The piece was fired once, then covered with a transparent yellow glaze and fired a second time.
